Julia

Valen

Performance Faculty

Julia Valen is a Minnesota-raised, Brooklyn-based actor and vocal coach. She has performed with numerous regional theaters, including the Guthrie Theater, Jungle Theater, Gremlin Theatre, Notre Dame and Great River Shakespeare Festivals, Park Square Theatre, Frank Theater, GreenHouse Theater Project, and The Playwrights’ Center. Julia earned her BA in Theater from St. Olaf College and an MFA from NYU Graduate Acting. Her original play, Nothing Can Stop What is Coming, was produced by GreenHouse Theater in 2021. Her short films A Home in the Country and Don’t Cry Yet have premiered at the Chelsea Film Festival, Chain Film Festival, Night of Shorts, and OUT at the Movies. When not onstage, behind the scenes, or teaching, Julia is usually biking near beautiful lakes, rivers, and oceans, blasting Italian disco music, or trying to create the perfect nest of blankets to lure her cat Mochi into a multi-hour snuggle.
