Performance Faculty

Alex Elam is an NYC-based actor and acting coach. Her experience as both a teacher and performer and her diverse background help her empower students to find their voice and tell their unique story. Born and raised in Plano, TX, Alex grew up performing onstage and competing in speech and debate teams both at the state and national level. Alex’s love of acting, storytelling, and human connection led her to UCLA School of Theatre, Film, and Television, where she earned her B.A. in Theater with an emphasis in Acting. She later went on to earn an M.F.A. in Acting from New York University. Alex has helped students improve their stage presence and increase their confidence—as an acting coach specializing in the Meisner technique, she worked with Steppenwolf Theatre Company and Black Box Acting Studio in Chicago for several years. When she isn’t teaching or gracing stages and screens, you can find her reading fantasy, hopping in a HIIT class, or nerding out with sommeliers (but only in non-pretentious wine bars).
