What We’ve Built

Heroic Public Speaking is considered by many to be the preeminent keynote speaker training company. Founded by Michael and Amy Port, a husband and wife team, we are headquartered in Lambertville, NJ, but our clients (who we refer to as “students”) visit us from all over the world. Michael is a NYT, WSJ, and USA Today bestselling author of nine books.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

Interns support Heroic Public Speaking’s mission of creating exceptional experiences for our clients.

The Operations Coordinator Intern reports to the Director of Operations, and serves as an essential part of the Operations Team that runs Heroic Public Speaking, including administration, finance, HR, and logistics. You will have the opportunity to learn about many aspects of our business and industry, including but not limited to event production, social and referral marketing, events and course programming, and more.

Interns at Heroic Public Speaking also have the opportunity to develop and improve their presentation and public speaking skills. Employers often seek employees who can confidently and articulately present ideas, persuade others, and make compelling arguments. Strong presentation skills can also be a significant asset when pitching new projects or products, or when negotiating deals with clients or partners.

This is a hybrid role. The Operations Coordinator Intern works in-person at Heroic Public Speaking HQ in Lambertville, NJ, to help coordinate events as needed. Most non-event days will be remote.

For the right candidate, there is the possibility of a full-time position at the end of the summer.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Support the Director of Operations in financial administration.
  • Coordinate calendar for teams.
  • Place orders, coordinate with outside vendors, and track invoices.
  • Support the implementation of our marketing CRM through data management and entry.
  • Manage student data on our social platforms and website.
  • Provide backup support for in-person events, including welcoming students and managing meals.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, or at least one year of relevant experience.
  • Strong eye for detail.
  • Available to work assigned days on location at Heroic Public Speaking HQ in Lambertville, NJ.
  • Energetic and enthusiastic personality.
  • Able to convey written and verbal information effectively to students and coworkers.
  • Must possess a service orientation; always actively looking for ways to help others.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • Self-starter, capable of working in a fast-paced environment.

COMPENSATION PACKAGE

This is a full-time internship that runs from June 1 - September 1, 2023. Compensation for this position is $20/hour, with the possibility of a permanent position for the right candidate starting in the fall.

WORK LOCATION AND TRAVEL

This is a hybrid position. The Operations Coordinator Intern can expect to be at Heroic Public Speaking HQ in Lambertville at least once a week, attending student events, working with the Director of Operations, or completing other in-person responsibilities. All other days are remote.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

This position has the potential for a full-time position in the fall, and so we are looking for a recent graduate to fill this role. That said, we are open to applicants of all backgrounds and experiences; where you went to school or what level of education you’ve achieved is not the first thing we consider when reviewing applications.
