October 1, 2 & 3, 2018
Philadelphia, PA

I am Michael Port.

I’m an author (yes, New York Times bestseller), a professionally trained actor (M.F.A New York University’s Graduate Acting Program) and a professional speaker ($30,000 per speech)…

… and that last part? The paid speaker part? That’s my dream for you, too.

And I don’t ONLY mean you’ll get paid to speak, but you’ll get paid more BECAUSE you speak better.

That’s why I’m proud to invite you to Heroic Public Speaking Live. It’s an experience unlike anything you’ve ever done before.

So mark your calendars for October 1, 2, & 3, 2018 and join us in Philadelphia, PA for the most inspiring, life-affecting, change-inciting and performance-enhancing event of 2018.

See you in October … and be sure to wear comfortable shoes ;-)

Michael Port

Michael Port has written six books, including Book Yourself Solid and Steal the Show, the latter which—according to the former President of Starbucks—“might be the most unique and practical book ever written on the topic of public speaking.”

He's been called an “uncommonly honest author" by the Boston Globe, a "marketing guru" by The Wall Street Journal, a “sales guru” by the Financial Times, “a public speaking phenom” by Jonathan Fields and “the best public speaking coach in the world” by Lewis Howes. The founder of MastermindTalks, Jayson Gaignard, declared, "Michael Port is the best speaker I've ever seen."

His books have been on the bestseller lists of the NY Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today and Publisher's Weekly and have been selected by Amazon and 800-CEO-READ as "best books of the year."

He was once a professional actor, having received his MFA from NYU's Graduate Acting Program, guest starring on shows like Sex & The City and Law & Order, and in films like The Pelican Brief and Down to Earth. These days, Michael can be seen on MSNBC, CNBC, and PBS as an on air expert in communication and business development and as the host of the most popular podcast on public speaking and performance, Steal the Show with Michael Port.

Amy Port

Amy Port is the Co-Founder and Director of Training of Heroic Public Speaking. As Director of Training, Amy’s work extends from the execution of corporate training packages, to development of CEO keynotes, private master classes and coaching.

After earning her MFA in Acting from The Yale School of Drama, Amy spent years acting professionally in theaters such as Seattle Repertory, Oregon Shakespeare and Yale Rep, and working consistently in commercials. She now applies the skills of performance that only well-trained actors know to the coaching of ‘non-actors’ looking to crush their sales presentations, to make their voices heard in TED Talk style presentations, and to take the big stage keynoting major conferences.

Geoffrey H. Garrett, a senior attorney at Byrd Garrett Wealth Preservation, said: “As a military pilot and B-747 captain over a forty-year career, I received every kind of skill-specific training and encountered every sort of teacher. I consider Amy to be, hands down, the best trainer-coach I have ever met. I cannot recommend her services highly enough."

What To Expect

You Will Become a Dramatically Better Performer

Michael Port and Amy Port and a host of other high level university and professional teachers will be your guides through three days of deep performance enhancing work: from using the stage effectively to voice and speech training to the most effective audience interaction techniques to which props you should use to professional acting on-camera techniques to the easiest content generation strategies and even when to sit down and when to stand up. Plus, the 20 or 30 things 99% of professional speakers do—that they shouldn't.

Through a series of intimate studio workshops and larger whole-group sessions, you’ll learn more about the power of true performance in three days than you have in your life.

Which in turn will give you POWER and PRESENCE like you’ve never had (unless, of course, you have a Masters in Acting from NYU or The Yale School of Drama). Yes, we can comfortably make that bold statement.

You will MASTER the Art and Science of Content Creation

Information is everywhere. Talk is cheap. But when you can creatively and consistently craft beautiful and captivating content, you have the winner’s edge and your audience will be hooked on your every word.

Our resident experts and trainers have published more than thirty best-selling books between them … and that’s in addition to being highly-rated and very highly paid public speakers. You’ll get to learn everything they know about putting words together for presentation and performance.

The content creation techniques that you will learn are nothing short of stunning in their simplicity and effectiveness. You will be able to talk - or write - with authority and panache on any subject that’s thrown at you when you’ve finished the Heroic Public Speaking Content Creation masterclass.

This was the agenda from LIVE 2017.
We will update the new agenda later in 2018.

Plan to arrive at 7:15 - 7:30 for registration. Those early to sign in get the best seats in the theater, and you’ll want to sit as close to the stage as possible. After all, the first few rows are reserved for VIP seating, so general attendees clamor to get up close & personal.

Before our first session, you’ll be treated to some group VOICE COACHING from D’Arcy Webb.

Wear comfortable clothes as you’ll be moving around through four different sessions:

And if you take a VVIP spot—assuming the six coveted spots aren’t sold out by the time you’re reading this—you can be one of the people on stage getting coached by Michael and Amy, transforming in front of your peers. You might even be the most popular (and referable) person at the event after your metamorphosis.

You’ll be thankful you wore comfy shoes when you start HPS Grad School Faculty Mike Ganino’s interactive content development workshop. Mike and his fancy hair performed at some of the top improv stages across the United States, and he’s a force that’ll make you rethink your idea of “winging” your performances.

Then Michael will fly solo and crack you up. Or make you sob. It's up to you and what content you'd like to explore.

There will be lunch and a couple of breaks in between that. After we’re done, we’ll gather back together to see...

Amy will fly solo and show you exactly what the title promises.

Prepare to then have your world rocked and sides split when you experience Ron Tite’s workshop. Yes, you too can make people laugh, and Ron, a master public speaker and comedian, will show you how it’s done.

Scott Stratten has completed over 360 talks in the past six years. Elizabeth Marshall will do an exclusive one-on-one interview, delving into his success as a public speaker.

Can you believe you’ll learn all of this and more in one day? Believe it.

If you’re still pumped, we invite you to one of two things:

Join our INFORMAL NETWORKING EVENT afterward so that you can meet others to book gigs, form rehearsal groups, and initiate lifelong friendships.

Or choose the “VIP ticket” option and join us at our VIP DINNER. Our business panelists will be dining with us, along with many other top-notch speakers. It’s a great way to get to know successful people in the industry.

    Then, you’ll sleep.

Yes, really. You’ll need some energy for the second day.

Rise and shine. We’ll start day two with:

Our motto? A D’Arcy-led-vocal-warm-up a day keeps the Ear Nose and Throat doctor away.

After getting our pipes in order, watch Amy and Michael present the next workshops. Keep ‘em coming and be amazed at the amount of transformation that happens on stage.

Amy will then dazzle and amaze in this workshop for rehearsing—because a successful performance is always achieved through effective rehearsal. Let’s face it: if you don’t know how to rehearse, you’ll have to live with that nagging thought: I know could have done so much better.

Stephen Covey had the Four Quadrants. Simon Sinek has circles inside of circles. Maslow has the Hierarchy of Needs (in fact, the model is so synonymous with Maslow that it’s consistently referred to as Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs). Want to hit the big time? Well, then you need to develop unique and proprietary contextual models. Neen James is a powerhouse expert in this, and she’ll teach you how to set yourself apart by using visual aids to create a snapshot of your intellectual property.

...Then go enjoy lunch. We don’t want you to be hangry.

Feel like you should have splurged on dessert after lunch? Let us treat you with this sweet, calorie-free session.

If you’ve been wowed by the transformation of our VVIPs, you’ll be completely blown away to watch what we can do in 5 minutes when we pull attendees (perhaps you?) on the stage for micro-sessions.

  • Did you miss the networking event the first night?

Not a worry—catch one tonight (or, better yet, go to both and double your connections).

No need for coffee; this masterclass will perk you up by its powerful transformation.

Michael will guide you through how to handle even the toughest and gruffest of audiences. You’ll learn to transform any “boo” to “boo-yah!”

Again, the magic on stage. Except it’s not magic. It’s real life, and it’s real rehearsal time.

Stock up on energy and good conversations with new friends at one final lunch together.

In extension to the daily vocal warm-ups, watch as D’Arcy Webb showcases major changes in speech technique. As a faculty member at The Philadelphia University of the Arts and at Heroic Public speaking, D’Arcy will teach powerful and long-lasting shortcuts for public speakers.

We love a good panel of experts. Receive a slew of advice from the pros listed above. These experts have forgotten more about the business of speaking than most people know.

We’ll end the day around 4:00, with plenty of time to crash at the hotel, pack up and take an evening flight home, or head out to dinner with new friends. Choose your adventure.

Throughout the event, we’ll introduce you to other budding public speakers just like you who’ve mastered the rehearsal process, been getting paid speaking gigs, and are Heroic Public Speakers.

You know you want to join. We can practically feel your fingers clicking to the registration page.

And more...
  • Scott Stratten Michael Port, I was mesmerized watching you coach public speakers. I'd pay admission just to witness it. You were meant to do it. Like watching art being made.

    Scott Stratten

  • Ann Peck Phenomenal day of learning from the dynamic duo and world class performers, Amy and Michael Port! Can't wait for tomorrow's session!

    Ann Peck

  • Omar-Zenholm I just want to say, the energy in this group is incredible. A testimonial to how positive and caring Michael, Amy and the whole team are. In the time I've known them, I've learned so many lessons, not only from the content of their material, but the content of their character.

    Omar Zenhom

  • Lewis Howes Michael Port is the best speaking coach in the world.

    Lewis Howes

  • Sue Zimmerman Because of Amy and Michael Port I am now a paid speaker. I never planned on broadcasting my message and stories to the world but damn, it feels so great to be on stage and make a difference in someone's life or biz. Like many of you I had a crush on Michael after listening to Book Yourself Solid in my ear 3 times. I then had the pleasure of meeting him thru my dear friend Dawn Doherty... I hired Michael as my mentor then attended his live event in PA and a again at CreativeLive... Amy and Micahel set the bar high and I love being in their presence whenever the opportunity comes my way! This Boston Girl is so excited to get out of the snow and into the sun!!

    Sue Zimmerman

  • Gene Hammett Amy and Michael Port...I had my first gig since attending HPS LIVE last month. I felt comfortable and connected to the audience at a deeper level than ever before. Thank you to both of you to help me be a better speaker.

    Gene Hammett

  • Katie-Peuvrelle Back here on the chilly West Coast and finding myself pleasantly lost in memories of the 3 amazing days we spent together at HPS LIVE. Seeing everyone's growth and willingness to risk was truly inspirational. I learned more than I ever thought possible, and now truly feel like a speaker - a heroic one. The biggest lesson is that our biggest and most majestic voice is already there - just get out of its way! Thank you to everyone for holding space for me to reclaim my ROAR. You are all the best!!

    Katie Peuvrelle

  • Lisa-Cummings Michael & Amy, I attended HPS LIVE intending to add a dash of theater to my speeches. I left intending to change the world. In between those steps, I changed my business model and scrapped every ounce of every word in the speeches that preceded HPS. Thank you for making this a powerful experience. And Damn! Your coaching abilities are outta this world! Watching you two in the master classes was like watching real magic happen in the moment. See you at the next one.

    Lisa Cummings

  • Jackie Thomas Last night I had many firsts....It was the first time I spoke into a mic. It was the first time I spoke on a stage. It was the first time I spoke to over 400 people. It was the first time I felt like a rock star. It was the first time I received a huge number of compliments after words. It was the first time my husband saw me speak and I even brought him into the presentation, which made it really funny and broke the ice. People that had seen me present at small venues before said that they saw my Amy and Michael Port training. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I am so excited to do more and more and more, to build upon my confidence more and more and more. Side Note: While driving to the event and waiting to speak I was thinking...why does this have to be my passion. I am a little bit "freaking out" Yet it was a calm "freaking out" (do you know what I mean) Why could my passion not be sitting at a boring desk job never having to get out of my comfort zone? Then I presented and remembered why this is what I am to be doing…

    Jackie Thomas

  • Nancy Griffin Michael and Amy, I love your fun, authoritative way of teaching at HPS live!

    Nancy Griffin

  • Neelam-Meetcha Amy, I wanted to reach out to you and say thank you. Amy I had no nerves, I had a voice and the feedback I'm getting is amazing. I would never ever in my wildest dreams have ever thought I would be standing in my power as someone who inspires others and on stage doing it!! I've had three further opportunities for speaking events and I'm elated. I don't really know what to say except that I will be on TED and I will be moving my speaking into story telling and I have no qualms about stepping out of my comfort zone any more. Thank you my dearest Amy. xoxoxo

    Neelam Meetcha

  • Jasmine Alexander Amy, I couldn't have done it without you! You and Michael pegged each one of us to a Tee! I've been serious all my life. Now, I am serious about playing! Thank you for bringing it to life for me.

    Jasmine Alexander

  • Dennis Giannetti Happy for you and this affirms just how talented not only Amy and Michael Port are, but how they have an additional gift to find and further other talented people. These are never really classes, are they? They are experiences that last a lifetime with people we will know, like and trust for a lifetime--as we all continuously take these gifts and pay it forward to our audiences, clients, friends and more. God bless. Go get em.

    Dennis Giannetti

  • From Tro Deaux When we ask people to change their way of thinking, we're challenging them - challenging their world view, asking them to make uncomfortable changes. They are going to be uncomfortable. They are going to look, and act, and BE uncomfortable. Sometimes they will even act out and lash out, and challenge us in return. I've experienced that a lot. I've also stuck with it, and found that often, the people who felt the most challenged, who seemed to reject my message the most soundly? Later on, they became my biggest, most devoted supporters. Some came back and apologized for how they'd treated me. It's powerful stuff, if you've got the stomach for it. And you do. (Credit has to go to Amy and Michael Port for showing me new levels of that lesson through their Heroic Public Speaking work)

    Tori Deaux

  • Brenda Barbosa I'm still buzzing from an amazing weekend with such incredible people. I don't think I fully appreciated the saying: "You are the sum of the five people you surround yourself with the most" until this past weekend.

    Brenda Barbosa

  • Remya Warrier It has been an incredible journey for me. Michael and Amy, you not only deliver your promise, you over deliver. I'm very grateful for this lovely community & being able to meet you in person.

    Remya Warrier

  • Tresa Skinner Leftenant Isn't it amazing how the energy created in a room or strangers can motivate huge progress and change. I'm doubling my efforts to get out there and share my message - NOW is the time to pursue the life you were born to life! Thanks to everyone for your love, support and motivation to be ALL I can be!

    Tresa Skinner Leftenant

  • Ken Trupke The transformations Amy and Michael created were definitely amazing!

    Ken Trupke

  • Eli Shine I had thought that waking up every day at about 4am was jet-lag, but now I think it's just being over-excited and my mind telling me that I've had enough sleep for now and it's time to take action! I bet I'm not the only one still pinching myself and wondering “was it really that good?” I've been to other workshops and been on a high afterword but something is different this time. The level of raw emotion, of person-to-person connection, of deep respect and equality for everyone in the room, was unparalleled. Thank you all, especially Michael and Amy.

    Eli Shine

  • Gordon Young I was amazed by the deep connections I made with people over a quick lunch, a casual conversation and even an honest smile in passing. Imagine, when we all learn how to create that atmosphere of trust, admiration, trust, safety and respect we will "change the world, one speech at a time."

    Gordon Young

  • Megha Rodriguez Thank you Michael for the great content creation work yesterday. It clarified my keynote AND my book AND my program all within the morning session. Interestingly enough, my topic is about the importance of shining your light (being a warrior of light) in spite of any obstacles. I left the event on a high only to be met with my 4 year having his first ever asthma attack so bad that he couldn't walk and they rushed him past the other waiting children in the urgent care. I am aware that there is a subconscious component here for me to clean out of my files about being taken off track, but it reinforced the very thing I clarified in my content which gave me even more grounding last night managing this challenge.

    Megha Rodriguez

  • Val Neighbors What a truly amazing group of people! I've been to so many events and programs and have NEVER met so many like-minded people. I'm looking forward to continuing our journey together. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

    Val Neighbors

  • Theo Tsaousides To keep the rehearsal momentum I went to a local Toastmasters meeting a couple of days ago. I was asked to do one of the table topics, where you are asked a question and you have 1-2 minutes to provide an impromptu answer. At the end of the meeting one of the members asked me "Are you an actor?" "No," I said. "I'm an HPS graduate!"

    Theo Tsaousides

  • Yancey Unequivocally Michael Port is the best public speaking coach I've ever seen. I should know because I'm in the business of creating visuals for the top speakers in the industry Everyone should invest their time to attend. Blessed to be a part of this community of like minds and be in this realm.

    Yancey Unequivocally

  • Michael Botts Amy and Michael HPS LIVE has been a benchmark turn around for me, I was in a bit of a slump when the event was announced. You energy and true passion you gave me helped me pull.myself up and get back in the race, I live by " Falling down is allowed, getting up is required." I gave all of myself and got all of you in return. Eternally Grateful! !!

    Michael Botts

    Michael Paule

  • Stephanie Amada Back home in Michigan. I can hardly believe it was only a week ago that we were all gathering for our first day of HPS LIVE and games with Dan Cordle. The experience of HPS LIVE was beyond amazing! The incredible things I learned from Amy and Michael Port and everyone else attending are already transforming me. Yesterday I was back in the classroom, and I am already performing differently. I was more in my body and allowed myself to be bigger in my voice and my movements - and had to make the conscious decision to not shy away from that. Thank you Michael, Amy, and Dan for your generosity, your brilliance, and for sharing that with all of us. What an amazing group of people!

    Stephanie Amada

  • Keith Horowitz I was speaking with my mother on the phone last night, about my time with you and some of my thoughts about speaking going forward. She said she can hear a difference in how I sound. This was a very significant statement to me. Considering that I've already changed a lot from Toastmasters, this shows how much more I've gained in 3 days. I was surprised and pleased to hear that my time at HPS LIVE‬ already shows noticeable benefit.

    Keith Horowitz

  • Tonia Arsenault Adleta So incredibly grateful for the clarity, focus, and confidence gained the past few days as a direct result of HPS LIVE and even more so the community to continue the growth, as a speaker and as a person.

    Tonia Arsenault Adleta

  • Walt Hampton What a gift these last three days have been. So grateful.

    Walt Hampton

  • Ian Tsang My 8 year old boy had to do a speech at school today. I coached him yesterday using all of the stuff we've just learned. He comes home and tells me the teacher's jaw hit the floor when he spoke. He even got asked to demonstrate the speech again to the class next door. All of this coming from a kid who usually barely enunciates and has pretty much scraped by on his prior speeches.

    Ian Tsang

  • Jon Porman It was Transformational and Priceless getting an hour with Amy and Michael Port!!!! They are 2 of the most AMAZING Souls I have EVER met!!

    Jon Porman

  • Tony Maree Torrey To anyone who has the remotest inkling that they might want to participate in HPS when next offered: All I can say is invest the dollars, free up your schedule and GO FOR IT! The rewards will be a gazillion fold.

I was thrilled to capture Omar's AWESOME session (preceded by the most original musical intro @jaredeasley - so cool on so many levels!! And the best part, we've made over 250 new friends we couldn't be more grateful for. Michael and Amy, you are simply two of the best humans on this planet.

    Nicole Baldinu

  • Suresh Babu Dear Friends, Today gave a speech in a College in Bangalore, India. It was a competition and whenever I could utilized what I learned in HPS LIVE. Thank you Amy and Michael Port.

    Suresh Babu

  • Suresh Babu I was one of those quiet observers in Fort Lauderdale a few weeks ago. When I was a little girl, I would sit on the toilet and give my "lectures" to doors and stuffed animals. As an adult I teach sales people and my youth group. HOWEVER, I have been toying with an idea for years... but never followed through. BUT BECAUSE OF ALL OF YOU, I AM!!!!!!!!! I love running and I wanted to create a program to team kids up with their parents or others to spend quality time together while training for a 5k. Many of us are simply too disengaged and we need to reconnect with our loved ones. For me, running time is when I do that. So, I am going to get out there and begin PERFORMING as I launch my program. I am beyond thrilled. I want to thank all of you for sharing your passions with me during our time together... What a great network I am now involved with. THANK YOU. You all make me want to pursue my dreams and to be the best that I can be.

    Shelly Waltman

  • Nicole Fende Finally back in the frozen tundra of Minnesota. Someone asked me this morning "how was the conference"? My answer - "It was a life defining event." I'm thankful to be part of this group, and excited to join you on your journeys to share your messages and save the world.

    Nicole Fende

  • Lisa Van Ahn I am so grateful for the wonderful teaching from you Michael, Amy, & Dan! I had my first event performance yesterday with a group of 3rd grade girls. I used the lessons I learned in HPS live and at the end two of the mothers said they couldn't believe how I was able to keep the girls completely engaged for 2 hours. But perhaps my favorite was a young girl Eva who said "there is no way that was 2 hours, it felt like 20 minutes" and Vivian who said "that was the most fun I've ever had." It felt like the highest level of praise because it is exactly how I felt at your event. It went so fast and I had the most fun. I am a better speaker because of it and I have many new friends. Thank you!

  • Hardeep Gill Thank you to Michael, Amy, and Dan for such a inspirational event. It was wonderful to see 400+ people transforming to a better version of themselves. An equal thank you to the panelists and fellow attendees for being so open and generous. (I was going to say vulnerable ... but in a critique free area there is no need to feel vulnerable).

  • David Travers Hi Michael, Amy, Matthew and team, I really loved and have been very impressed (and I m not easy to please) every little minute of the HPS LIVE event.

  • Shuly Oletzky I couldn't be happier to be a part of this event! What a wonderfully diverse group of helpful, friendly people and useful and actionable content. Thank you again to the generous people that made my attendance possible! HPS LIVE

And, doubly, I have learned so much from both of you and Amy. Thank you both. I have also met so many incredible people. And I have been part of such a great accountability team.

  • Dirk Van Loon Amy, Michael and Crew, thank you three outstanding days. I have learned so much and it transcended my expectation. This made me realize that I just started an amazing journey. And I will do my part to save the world, one speech at a time.

Why this is important

Transform Now
  • Have full command of your audience. They’ll be hanging on your every word, even if they don’t know you from Adam! That means you can get them doing what you want, when you want.
  • Give a performance, not a speech, so you get a rousing round of applause when you’re done, and you’ll get rave reviews from the entire room.
  • Do away with PowerPoint. Put down the clicker that fires bullet points and kills speeches. Instead, make every speech a gripping, pre-planned spontaneous improvisation.
  • Leverage the “rules” of high-level performance and know which rules to break – and HOW to break them for maximum effect.
  • Construct your story from a series of smaller stories, each one with a payoff that satisfies and delights your adoring fans.
  • Have them laughing in the aisles … even if you’re not known for your sense of humor. Audiences love an emotional rollercoaster. Getting them laughing is crucial, even if your story is a sad one.
  • Use Hollywood secrets to craft compelling cliffhangers so that your audience doesn’t have any choice but to give you their undivided attention.
  • Earn love and respect from the audience BEFORE YOU EVEN SET FOOT ON STAGE. After all, if they don’t like you from the get-go, you’ve got a lot of catching up to do!
  • Make every audience member an important part of the story, whether you’ve got 4 or 4,000 people in the room. When they’re fully invested, they’ll play full out … and make more investments.
  • LEAVE OUT the most important parts of your speech, so that your audience can fill in the gaps and make your story come alive for them. (It’s the secret to being “everything to everybody”).
  • Use ethical, emotional and logical persuasion tactics to move audiences to take action.
  • Create a winning combination of scripting and outlining so your structure flows effortlessly and you never forget where you are—and if you do, it’ll be easy to get right back on track.
  • Sound big, bold and powerful using voice techniques known by only the best-trained actors and singers.
  • Rehearse like the pros—rehearsal is the key to success and if you don’t know how to do it right, you won’t do it at all.
  • Handle nerves pre-show so you’re confident and compelling.
  • Find your own special, unique and exciting speaking style. Not everyone is like Tony Robbins (nor should they be). You can't turn in a Meryl Streep quality speech standing in one place and speaking softly.
  • Get a standing ovation EVERY SINGLE TIME. Seriously. No joke.
