In-House Designer

Summary of Position

We’re on the lookout for an In-House Designer with strong technical and creative skills to join our team. This role isn’t just design, nor is it just web development. It combines both of these skills and allows you to use your creativity and expertise to deliver meaningful user experiences that have a direct impact on revenue.

This position is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to be challenged and grow in a fast-paced environment with the most big-hearted community you’ll ever experience. (We’re not a fan of using absolutes unless we mean it: and we mean it here.)

Please only apply if—in your work as a designer—you focus on the effectiveness of your designs to achieve the intended marketing or sales result. We’d like to hire an In-House Designer who knows how to build sites, proposals, and sales pages that get people to take action—someone who is fascinated with and continues to study online conversion techniques, user interface advancements, along with the principles of behavioral psychology.

Type of Employment/Benefits

This role is a full-time position. The company offers enrollment in a Platinum health insurance plan through United Health Care and pays 50% of the premiums if you choose to enroll.

Additionally, the company offers a very generous retirement plan in the form of a Defined Benefit Plan and contributes pre-tax dollars equal to at least 9% of your salary each year. There is also a 401K plan to which you can choose to contribute if you’d like. Your contributions to the 401K can be in the form of a post-tax ROTH 401K or pre-tax Traditional 401K.

Education and Qualifications

We don’t really care where you went to school or what level of education you’ve achieved. We care about who you are now and how you show up in the world now. We have a highly intelligent and sophisticated group of people working together with shared values. We have more staff members with Masters degrees than the typical non-academic organization; however, almost none of these degrees are actually related to the work they now do. The point is: how someone did in school or where they went to school or what they studied isn’t the first thing we consider when making our hiring decisions.

We do, however, to expect the following:

  • Thorough understanding of the necessary considerations in designing for a brand-centric company.
  • Ability to present and communicate compelling stories around design decisions and new ideas.
  • Solid understanding of UX, marketing, and front-end best practices/latest trends.
  • Expert in Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, InDesign + Illustrator.
  • Experience designing for WordPress.
  • Proficient in HTML coding and expert in web design, color, layout, and typography.
  • Ability to create dynamic slide decks (specifically in Keynote).
  • Ability to create and follow style guidelines and design templates of our brands, as well as in-house best practices.
  • Strong work ethic and organizational skills (this is on every job ad, but we mean it).
  • Ability (and experience) in running multiple concurrent projects and seeing them through the entire project lifecycle: especially through tight deadlines.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven creative environment with a proactive approach and positive attitude. We’re a team with a sense of humor, and we hope you have one, too.
  • Ability to take art direction, think critically, and ask questions as necessary.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience with photography or videography content creation.
